Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.
–Kay Redfield Jamison.
Hello my doll loving friends. Hope you are having some good weather in your part of the world. Playing outside has been a big thing in our house, especially if it involves water, rain, and mud. Kids love those things so much. The simple pleasures.
My new doll is also big on play. She can play all day with whatever she can find. She plays with sand, rocks, water, mud, leaves, blocks, dolls, plushies, pots and pans, you name it. I call her my little scientist because is like she is making experiments with every single thing she plays with. She needs to look at things extensively, then touch it, and of course taste it, that is a big thing. She then proceeds to play with it in all different ways. She tries to bounce a rock and balance a ball on top of some blocks. She has eaten her fair share of play dough, but don’t worry we make our own play dough and it is completely edible and toxic free. Meera is so fun and easy to take care of. She’s always in a good mood.
I have told you so much about her but haven’t really introduced her to you. Well, her name is Meera. As you already know Meera loves to play and experiment. She also loves songs and finger play, key lime pie, and her favorite color changes every day. She falls asleep right away when you turn on the TV. I’m not sure if she’s bored or if it soothes her. Maybe it is a mix of both, who knows? I can just say she’s a super happy baby full of love, laugh, and giggles.
Meera has some changes in her design. Her head is articulated but not really floppy. This is the first time I achieve this head and I am really excited about it. I am not sure I will be able to replicate it in bigger sizes but I will surely try. I also made her legs a little different than my previous dolls because I wanted to try something different this time. Why not?
Meera is a 12 inches natural fibers art baby doll. She’s fully soft sculpted and anatomically correct. Her skin is Heavy Weight Laib Yala in red brown, her limbs are fully lined and firmly filled with clean wool. Her torso is needle felted in two parts and weighted with glass beads. Her head is a little wobbly and articulated. You can pose her head more easily to look up, down, or to the sides. Her arms and legs have been hand sewn to her torso three times to make it extra strong. They are very floppy and bend at the elbows and thighs. Her head is firmly needle felted and soft sculpted in the mouth and nose. Meera’s hair is a hand crocheted black brushable mohair cap, it has been hand sewn to her head. This hair can be gently brushed and restyled. Her blushing has been made with a beeswax crayon, some pastels, and color pencils.
Meera is not a toy. She’s an art doll intended for gentle play by an adult collector or an older child 10 and up. She loves to be cuddled and held but just like you would be gentle with a real baby, you need to be gentle with her.
