You never regret being kind.
– Nicole Sheperd

A new day comes with a new baby doll. Another kind being has been born from the wool in my hands and I am in love with her.
I’ve been meaning to make a little bee for a while now but I was still trying to decipher the wings. I didn’t want them to look like butterfly wings, so I tried to research as much as I could and I settled for these. I hope they do look like bee’s wings, either way, I love them and so does Eloísa.
Eloísa was born just when the summer starts peaking out on us. When all the insects start to make their appearances. Some may not like them, but Eloísa loves insects. She’s so kind and careful with all of them. Can you guess what her favorite is? You got it! Eloísa, adores bees. She wants to have one as a pet and she tries to grab them when she sees them. We have been very lucky none have stung her yet. No matter how much I try to explain that we shouldn’t hold bees or that they are not really pets, she still wants to take one home every single day. So what did I do? I made her a bee doll. I actually made her a whole bee ensemble to go with it. The problem is that she never wants to take it off. Oh well, at least that will keep her occupied until she grows a little and we can reason with her about the bees.

Eloísa can be stubborn, just like most babies, but she’s also the kindest one of all. She was empathic from the day she was born. She will hug you and hold your hand if she feels your sadness. She will try to help if she sees an ant carrying something too heavy. She looks at you with a knowing smile, that kind of tells me that everything will be alright. She’s really good at comforting people and animals. She has done a great job with everyone at home.
Some other things you should know about this baby: She loves taking naps in the garden. Her favorite color is yellow. She loves the smell of honey but I’m scared to let her taste it since she is still a baby. She’s scared of thunder so make sure you make her feel safe during storms. She also laughs in her sleep. It’s the cutest thing.

Eloísa is a 14 inch natural fibers art baby doll. She was made slowly and thoughtfully putting attention to details. Her skin is DWE in dark brown color, her limbs are firmly filled with clean wool. Her torso is weighted with glass beads. She’s 600 grams (1.3 pounds) of pure love and kindness. Her head is floppy, just like a real newborn baby. Her arms and legs have been hand sewn to her torso three times to make it extra strong. They are very floppy as well and bend at the elbow, thighs, and knees. Her head was made in the traditional Waldorf style with some needle felting to make it firmer. Her black eyes have been embroidered with cotton DMC thread. Eloísa’s hair is a black big loop mohair crocheted wig cap with some loop stitches, that has been sewn to her head.
Eloísa is not a toy. She’s an art doll intended for gentle play by an adult collector or an older child 8 and up. She likes to be cuddled and held but just like you would be gentle with a newborn baby, you need to be gentle with her. She feels great to hold too.

As usual, with every new doll, I try new things, some are visible and some are internal that even though you may not see them, they make the doll better and more resistant. I also like to try new things in the clothes area. I got a new serger, courtesy of my loving parents. So I am finishing all the seams with it now. I love seeing the clothes look more professional these days both inside and out.
If you would like to see more photos of Eloísa you can see them here.
