In joy or sadness, flowers are out constant friends.
-Okakura Kakuzo

Another day, another cutie to light up our lives. I have been very inspired by Mexico lately. I think seeing what is happening in the world makes me appreciate what I have more. I love this country more every day. I wish more people could see it and its people through my eyes. I think everyone would love it as much or even more than I do.
From the love of Mexico and the search for joyful things, Xochitl was born. Xochitl is a name in Nahuatl (One of the many languages spoken in Mexico) and it means flower. The flowers that bloom and bring joy and beauty to our lives, but don’t last forever. They remind us to appreciate the moment and take nothing for granted. Because life is ever changing and we need to enjoy it as much as we can.

As you can probably tell already, Xochitl is a very happy girl. She always has a bright smile on her face and she rarely cries. She loves all plants and animals and she gets really excited when she sees flowers. So anything with flowers makes her even happier. She is a true Mexican baby so she loves her atole, and pan dulce, refried beans and mashed avocado are also favorites. She still does not eat any spicy food but I’m sure she will soon. This baby loves to listen to Luis Miguel and Ana Gabriel and her favorite books include most of the Mayan legends. You can probably find all of these online so you can play it for her to listen.

Xochitl is an 8 inch natural fibers baby doll. Skin is DWE in a light brown color. Limbs and torso are firmly filled with clean wool. Head is floppy. Legs and arms are floppy on the shoulders and thighs. Arms are sewn directly to the torso three times for extra strength. Legs and torso are one piece. The head is firmly needle felted, soft sculpted on the mouth and eyes, and hand embroidered with DMC cotton embroidery floss. She house long eyelashes also. This doll is fully soft sculpted. Her black hair is a hand crocheted wild brushable mohair wig cap that has been brushed to have some length. The wig has been hand sewn to her head. This hair can be gently brushed and styled. Ears are hand sewn to the head as well. Blushing was made with a red beeswax crayon and it is not permanent. You will get a little piece of cloth with some blush so you can retouch it if necessary.

Xochitl will go home with the following clothes and accessories:
- Handmade Cotton mix diaper with plastic snaps
- Handmade linen and polyester dress with embroidery detail. (the skirt is polyester, sorry, I couldn’t find this kind of fabric in natural materials)
- Handmade cotton and linen mix diaper cover with flower detail.
- Hand crocheted slippers
- Handmade ribbon hairties
- Handmade little pig with embroidered flowers.
If you would like to see more photos of Xochitl, you can do so here.
Hand wash only. Clothes should be hand washed separately as well.
This baby is an art doll, even though she has been made as sturdy as possible, she is to be played with gently by an adult collector or children 7 years or older that do not mouth their toys and can be gentle with the doll.
