Clara was supposed to be finished las week but as a lot of you know I was fighting a cold and the cold won, then it hit my little girl too so my mind was somewhere else. I did keep working but at a super slow pace and I mostly just planned her outfit in my head. I wanted ruffles, lots of ruffles perfect for a little sweet princess. And so ruffles I made. Clara is my Nutcracker inspired baby. She’s my version of course and I wanted her to be delicate and asleep. I feel she needs to be sleeping in order to travel to this magical land with her nutcracker. But then again, that is just my vision.

I also tried something new with Clara. It may not be too noticeable but it made a big difference to me. I made her head more round overall. I usually make the needle felted heads more oval with a really marked eye line that kind of divides the head in two. This time I went with a smoother transition and I think I like it more and I will keep making heads this way. Maybe even a little rounder. I think they look even more baby- ish.

Clara will be the last baby for sale this year. I will keep working the rest of the month but mostly on patterns that will be for sale in my Etsy shop later on. I will also be opening a couple of custom spots, so stay tuned for that.

Now about Clara. She is a dreamer. She loves to go to sleep and dream of magical places with soldiers, candies, and fairies. She babbles about place where is Christmas all the time. Let me tell you that Clara loves Christmas very much, the presents, the candies, the lights, the music. She mostly loves the magic of it all. She can listen to Christmas music all day. She even dances to it. She dances so gracefully, even for a baby that I think she might be a dancer in her heart. Clara has an unexplainable love for nutcrackers, which in my opinion, are a little creepy. But she says they are gentle souls full of magic that help you when you want to eat a nut. She loves hazelnuts by the way, also sugar plum cookies, and gingerbread. I was going to make her a gingerbread man as a traveling friend but she insisted on a nutcracker, so I made her a cuter version of course. She loves it too.

Clara is very excited about Christmas, but because I couldn’t finish her before, she will spend her first Christmas with us before going to her new home.

Clara is a 17 inch natural fibers art baby doll. She’s fully soft sculpted and anatomically correct. Her skin is DWE in dark brown. Her limbs are fully lined and firmly filled with clean wool and glass beads. Her torso is needle felted in two parts and weighted with glass beads. Her head is floppy. Her arms and legs have been hand sewn to her torso three times to make it extra strong. They are very floppy as well and bend at the elbows, shoulders, thighs, ankles, and knees. Her head is firmly needle felted and soft sculpted in the mouth and nose. Clara’s hair is a a hand crocheted and hand dyed black brushable mohair wig cap hand sewn to her head. Her hair can be gently brushed and restyled. Her blushing has been made with colored pencils and a red bees wax crayon. It is not permanent and it can be refreshed with a bees wax crayon.

Clara is not a toy. She’s an art doll intended for gentle play by an adult collector or an older child 10 and up. She likes to play and cuddle but you need to be gentle with her like you would be with a real baby.

Clara will go home with the clothes and accessories you see in her photos. All clothes items are handmade by me.

Clara’s adoption fee is 1,200 USDollars plus shipping. Shipping inside Mexico is free with standard mail with tracking (It can be upgraded to Mexpost or private courier at the customer’s expense). Shipping outside Mexico needs to be by a private courier and fully insured because she is a weighted doll. Shipping to the US is 75 USDollars. Other parts of the world will need a revised shipping quote. Customs fees and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.

A short, 3 month/ 4 payment plan is available to purchase her. However at least 1/4 of the doll’s price needs to be paid upfront. Please ask for the payment plan rules if you don’t know them yet. The doll and shipping cost need to be paid in full before the doll gets shipped.

Please only comment for her if you are completely sure you want her and are able to pay for her either in full or following the rules of the payment plan.

I will take entries for Clara until, Friday December 23, 2022 at 4pm CST. If more than one person is interested I will draw a name. Once a family has been chosen I will send a PayPal invoice that is due upon receipt.

If Clara does not find a home in the time stated above she will be announced on Instagram and Facebook as ready for adoption and listed in my shop.
