Bianca, a surprise baby

The best things happen unexpectedly…

Bianca, 10 inch Waldorf Inspired doll

I wasn’t planning on making this baby. I just needed to make something while I waited for the fabric to finish another doll I have been working on. I wanted to make a simple smaller doll, but not tiny, so I went for the 10 inch measurement. I drafted a slightly different pattern to make her, and made some changes to make her more sturdy. For example her neck is not floppy but more like wobbly, it can still bend and pose pretty well though.

When I finished her I totally fell in love with her. I thought, well, I need a simple outfit too, but of course, that didn’t happen and I ended up making two dresses that can be layered any way or worn by themselves, bloomers, leggings, boots, and a bonnet. Since she was always sleeping I was scared she was getting cold but couldn’t tell me. So that’s when all the layering began. I must say I love this outfit. I am not big on layering babies because it can get uncomfortable for them to move, but since she sleeps so much, she doesn’t seem to care. Doesn’t she look cute with all those clothes on?

Bianca is a pretty easy baby still. I say still because babies change day to day and I don’t want to get in trouble if in a couple of weeks she turns into a problem child, which I doubt of course. Bianca is still pretty small so she needs her sleep to grow, that is why she spends most of her time sleeping. The good thing is you can dress her and pose her however you want and she won’t complain. She doesn’t really know anything about Christmas, yet I want her to have a special one. She deserves it, just like every other child. I made her a Christmas theme outfit so she can get into your family Christmas photos and look the part.

I wonder what kind of personality this little one will have. I bet she will be a very curious and happy baby. I have a feeling about it. For now I will let her dream of warm and magical places.

Bianca’s traveling friend

Bianca is a 10 inch baby girl. Her skin is DWE in light brown. Her sleeping eyes have been hand embroidered and her hair is a hand crocheted brushable mohair wig cap in an orange color (forgot the name of the color). Her blushing was made with an orange/red beeswax crayon and is not permanent. She is a natural fibers doll, filled with clean wool. Her head has been made in the traditional Waldorf style with some needle felting to make it firmer. Her clothes have been made with cotton and linen fabrics and wool blend yarns. Her arms and legs are floppy and her head is wobbly. She’s fun to pose.

Bianca will go home with the following clothes and accessories:

  • Handmade long sleeve dress (Pattern by Meadowfinch)
  • Handmade diaper with snap closures.
  • Handmade linen sleeveless dress.
  • Handmade leggings
  • Handmade bloomers
  • Hand crocheted bonnet
  • Hand crocheted booties
  • Wool felt white reindeer traveling friend.

This doll was made to be strong and sturdy and for play by children. However, there are snaps on the diapers and a button and snaps on the dresses that can turn into choking hazards. If you are planing to give this doll to a small child and would like me to change the snaps and button for velcro, please let me know. I will gladly change them.

You can see more photos of Bianca in her album.

If you would like to adopt her, make sure you comment on this post stating so. If there is more than one person interested in her, I will draw a name later on. I will take entries for Bianca until tomorrow Friday October 22 at 3pm CDT. Remember comments are only visible to me.

Once a family has been chosen I will send a PayPal invoice that is due upon receipt. Shipping day will be Monday.

Bianca found a loving home. You can see the drawing on Facebook and Instagram stories.

I hope you like this unexpected baby girl as much as I do. Thank you for taking the time to know her also.

Hope you are having a beautiful day.

Read you soon.

Hugs,

Aubrey
