When one flower blooms, Springs awakens everywhere.
-John O’Donohue

Spring has finally come to most of you. I say you because in here is really summer right now. As I write this, I’m literally under a full speed ceiling fan and considering going to my bedroom where there is AC. The heat is real. Still, you can see it is Spring outside. Flowers are blooming, trees are starting to get covered with leaves again and it is just a beautiful sight. Looking at the beautiful spectacle of nature I got inspired to make this sweet baby girl.
Her name is Afina and she is a little Spring baby that loves flowers and fruits, especially blue ones. I bet you can guess what her favorite color is. ha! You want to hear something weird? This sweet girl seems to have a green thumb. She only goes near a plant and, this might sound crazy, but I can see the plant get happier. I don’t even know how to explain it but that is what I see. i guess she has a way with plants that I will never understand. So if you are a plant lover, Afina will definitely be a real help around the house.

Afina took me a little longer than most of my little dolls take and that is because I got excited with her clothes. Not only did I make her a flower costume. I decided to also make her an outfit with layers that you can then mix and match in different ways and combinations. It’s like having three outfits in one. I also got a little too excited with black tea staining and I literally stained every single piece of clothing except for the diaper. I love the sort of vintage look that it gives to the clothes and I believe I will be staining much more fabric in the future.

Afina is a 7 inch spring baby. Her skin is DWE in dark brown color. Her dark blue eyes have been hand embroidered with DMC thread, and her light blue curls are a big loop mohair wig cap with some loop stitches. The wig cap has been hand sewn to her head. She has a firmly needle felted face with soft sculpted features. She’s fully soft sculpted and anatomically correct. Her blushing was made with a red beeswax crayon and is not permanent. She is a natural fibers doll, filled with clean wool. Her head, arms, and legs are floppy for better posing.

Afina will go home with the clothes and accessories you see in her photos. All handmade by me.

This doll has been made as sturdy as possible but her clothes and accessories are more delicate and can become choking hazards.
