When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.
-Jimi Hendrix

It seems lately that things are getting more chaotic in the world by the minute. Every time I think things will start getting better, a new thing comes out to mess everything up again. I have been trying to get away from the news but it is very hard to ignore all the suffering, especially when it feels so close.
Out of that yearning for peace came out Ximena. A Mexican brown baby full of color and joy. As most of you know I am Puerto Rican but I have lived in Mexico for almost 14 years now. I feel this is the home I never knew I was missing. Don’t get me wrong, I love my country, my culture, and the people, but Mexico is where my life is, where my children were born and where I am raising them. So this country right now is everything to me. So anything that wants to diminish Mexico and its people feels personal right now. I wanted to make a doll that shows the Mexican joy, art, and whimsy. I think Ximena shows it pretty well.
Ximena is in that transition age where she is babbling a lot and starting to pull herself up. So anytime now, she will turn into a toddler.
Ximena loves music, the smell of atole, and rainbows. Her favorite color is all of them really, she makes multicolored animals, just like the alebrijes, and the people in our world. Her favorite animals are hummingbirds because they seem to change colors in the sun. Ximena is a good sleeper and she can sleep through any noise. She is very well trained, she has fallen asleep through many parties already. Ximena loves to dress up, and meet new people. She loves human faces of every color and features. She seems to study every single feature of every person she meets. She is such a kind and joyful soul. I wish we could all see the world through her eyes, or through any small child’s eye for that matter. Maybe we would stop all the nonsense and take care of each other and the planet. I know it might be naive to think that way, but we can always dream.

Ximena is a 14 inch Waldorf baby girl doll. Her skin is Heavy Weight Laib Yala in a red brown color. Her brown eyes have been hand embroidered with DMC threads. Her hair is a hand crocheted black wild brushable mohair wig cap that has been hand sewn to her head. It can be gently brushed and styled. Her blushing was made with a red beeswax crayon and is not permanent. She is a natural fibers doll, filled with clean wool. Her head has been made in the traditional Waldorf style. She is articulated on her shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles for better posing. Her head is wobbly like a real baby. This baby doll is pretty floppy and very fun to pose. This baby is not weighted.
Hand wash only.
