Algodón and Luna, two kittens ready for cuddles

What greater gift than the love of a cat.

Algodón and Luna, 7.5 inch natural fibers art dolls

Why do I keep underestimating the time it will take me to make little babies? I planned to have these babies ready for homes on Monday plus a soft sculpted baby. Two days later, I finally finished them and decided to find them homes while making the soft sculpted baby which I will need to leave for maybe next week.

Now let me tell you about these new babies. Their names are Luna and Algodón. We found them in a park near our house with a snake going around them. We actually saw the snake moving first and that startled us. Then all of a sudden we see something else moving, I first thought it was a possum. We have many possums here. But it was a gray tiny creature that looked like a cat, but not completely. This little kitten creature couldn’t really walk, her movements were more like a newborn baby, kicking, and trying to roll. I got scared this little one was going to get hurt by the snake, so we got a stick and moved the snake away. This apparently scared the snake and made her hide in other bushes. As I got closer to get the tiny baby I just found, I saw that about a foot from her, there was another one like her. Except this one was white and completely asleep. I decided to take them both from harms way and wrapped them in my sweater.

After asking around to see if someone knew who these little ones belonged to, I decided to just bring them home. My kids are so in love with them, my dog tolerates them but my cat hates them. I need to keep them away from the cat at all times, and let me tell you that is not easy, because cats are sneaky. So, you might now understand why I need to find them a home, where they are safe and warm.

When I first showed these babies unfinished on Instagram, a lot of people thought they were bunnies, and since it is almost Easter I thought it would be cute to dress them as bunnies, and with their cat ears hidden, they can actually pass as bunnies too. I am not sure what breed of cat they are or even if they are cats. Maybe they are actually a weird species of bunnies, ha! But I do think they have some feline behaviors and maybe is just me, but I think they also bring good luck. Aren’t cats good luck? I think they are.

I made these babies as part of my hybrid babies. My kids are always petting every single cat they see on the street, so this inspired me to make them kittens.

Luna, 7.5 inch natural fibers art doll

This is Luna. Luna is the playful one. Everything is super exciting for her and apparently everything is a toy too. She loves to scratch almost everything. She loves to play with leaves, balls, and anything that moves quickly. She does not like being alone and she wants you to take her with you even to the bathroom. She loves being petted, eating fish flavored anything, and she is lactose intolerant.

Luna is a 7.5 inch natural fibers hybrid kitten doll. Skin is organic cotton interlock hand dyed to a gray color. Limbs and torso are firmly stuffed with clean wool. Head is floppy. Legs and arms are floppy on the shoulders and thighs. Arms are sewn directly to the torso three times for extra strength. Legs and torso are one piece. The head is firmly needle felted, soft sculpted on the mouth, nose, and eyes. Her face was hand embroidered with DMC cotton embroidery floss (eyelashes are delicate please do not pull them). This doll is fully soft sculpted. Her fur is a hand crocheted wig cap made out of a mohair yarn. She has fur on her wrists, ankles, neck, and head. The fur has been hand sewn to her body and hair, except for the neck, where it is just tied. This hair can be gently brushed if needed. Ears are hand sewn to the head as well. Nose and eyebrows were hand painted with colored pencils, that is why the doll is spot clean only. Blushing was made with a red beeswax crayon and it is not permanent. You will get a little piece of cloth with some blush so you can retouch it if necessary.

Now this is Algodón. Algodón is the sleepy kitty. He likes to be petted but only when he’s in the mood. If he’s not, get ready to be scratched. Though his scratches are harmless because he actually has no nails, or at least I cannot feel them. Algodón is ok sleeping by himself but he does prefer to sleep with at least someone in the same room as he is. When he is awake, which is not often, Algodón loves to eat. He practically eats anything really. Not a picky eater at all. He’s like a white Garfield. haha!
