37 sleeps until Halloween! I must admit I have never been a fan of Halloween. I get scared really easily so seeing people dressed as spooky things and all the creepy scary part of Halloween is not my cup of tea. I do like, however, the dressing up as something cute or magical. I love that for my children. I also love to make the creepy cuties. I think is my way of making the creepy things look better to me. You know, imagining the monsters as babies makes everything better and so much cuter.

Now let me tell you about the new baby that was just born from my hands. I named her Miércoles (Wednesday is Spanish) because she was born last Wednesday. I think she is so cute and smart. She seems to be very observant and well behaved. However, she is rather pale. She is also a little weird. She rarely smiles and when she does, is at the least pleasant things, like dead flowers, or somber music. I must say I find her a little odd and a bit scary, but still very cute. Oh and have I mentioned her favorite color seems to be black? Doctors say it is because she is very young and at that age the high contrast between black and white is more interesting for babies than actual colors. I am not sure I believe that but I guess we can only wait. Oh, and let’s not forget how she didn’t let me put a head to her doll. Every time I would try to make the head, she would take the body and play with it, even sleep with it. I’m not going to lie, a headless doll is the stuff of nightmares for me, but hey, she is happy, so I went with it.

If you are a fan of somber music, headless dolls, the color black, and you have a black thumb, Wednesday might be the baby for you. And even if you don’t, who knows? Maybe she’ll grow out of this dark phase. I feel she just needs a home where she can be loved.

Miércoles is a 10 inch natural fibers art baby doll. She’s not fully soft sculpted but she has a cute belly button and bum. She is also anatomically correct. Her skin is organic cotton interlock in it’s natural color. Her whole body is fully lined and mostly stuffed with glass beads. She only has wool on his toes, hands, belly and buttocks. That is why she is so floppy. Her head is floppy. Her arms have been hand sewn to her torso three times to make it extra strong. They are floppy as well. Her head is firmly needle felted and soft sculpted in the mouth and eyes. Her eyes have been hand embroidered with DMC thread. Miércoles is the first cuddle baby with hair and her hair is a hand crocheted wild brushable mohair wig that has been hand sewn to her head. Her blushing has been made with colored pencils, makeup, and an orange red bees wax crayon. It is not permanent and it can be refreshed with a crayon.

Miércoles is not a toy. She’s an art doll intended for gentle play by an adult collector or an older child 10 and up. She likes to play and cuddle but you need to be gentle with her like you would be with a real newborn baby.

Miércoles will go home with most of the clothes and accessories you see in her photos. All items are handmade by me.

Miércoles’ adoption fee is 530 USDollars plus shipping. Shipping inside Mexico is free with standard mail with tracking (It can be upgraded to Mexpost or private courier at the customer’s expense). Shipping outside Mexico can be either by priority shipping or a private courier. Shipping to the US through priority is 35 usdollars. Through a private courier is 60 USDollars. Only dolls that are sent through private courier can be insured in case the doll gets lost. Other parts of the world will need a revised shipping quote. Customs fees and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.

I will take entries for Miércoles until, Thursday September 26, 2024 at noon CST (Mexico City Time). If more than one person is interested I will draw a name. Once a family has been chosen I will send a PayPal invoice that is due upon receipt. Because I know we all live in different time zones, the person that gets selected will have until Midnight that day to pay for the invoice. If they fail to do so, I will draw a new name.
