Natanael

Treat everyday like Christmas.

-Buddy the Elf

Halloween is just around the corner. Are you excited for it? Or do you not celebrate it? I am not a fan of the scary stuff, but as all of you know I love the creepy cuties and the fun of dressing up. I think is such a cool holiday for children to dress up as whatever they want and get free candy that me and my husband can eat while they sleep. haha!

Now because Halloween is almost over, I feel it is appropriate to start talking about Christmas more freely. Once we pass Día de Muertos, Christmas can start in Mexico. Natanael knows about this so he’s been helping with the finishing touches for our “ofrenda”, he’s very helpful that way. He also cannot wait to start decorating for Christmas. Oh this sweet baby is so excited about Christmas. You can hear him humming Christmas carols and trying to take the Christmas lights out already. I tell you, he seems to want to help with everything, even when we don’t need him too. Would you like to win his heart forever? Give him a candy and cane and you sure will. In summary, Natanael loves to help make Christmas happen, he likes to feel like he is in Santa’s workshop.

Talking about Santa’s workshop, I have a story to tell you. I finally found out why these Christmas elves have been appearing in my home. Well, would you believe there are so many elves being born in the North Pole that they are looking for people to take care of them? So I have been given the task to find a home for three of them. Once these babies reach adult age, they will go back to the North Pole and learn their chores as Santa’s helpers. If they ever grow up, that is…

Natanael is the third and only boy of the three baby elves I decided to make for Christmas. He’s a little different from his sisters though. He has a firmly needle felted head. I made him like this because this is the kind of head/face I want to teach in my upcoming doll making class. So we will be basically making a doll like him, body and head. I need to decide on how the hair will be and the clothes I will be dressing the doll with. I need to make these decisions soon if I want to start the class on January, fingers crossed. I will have more info on it soon.

Natanael is an 11 inch baby elf boy. His skin is Laib Yala in light brown. His brown eyes have been hand embroidered with DMC thread, and his hair is a hand crocheted light brown fluffly mohair mix yarn wig cap that has been hand sewn to his head. His blushing was made with a red/orange beeswax crayon and some colored pencils. The blushing is not permanent but it is easily retouched with wax crayons. He is a natural fibers doll, filled with clean wool. His torso is slightly needle felted. The pattern for Natanael’s body is the new pattern that I am still testing and I believe I have decided I love. I hope you like it too. His head is firmly needle felted and soft sculpted. He can bend his arms at the shoulders and his legs at his hips. His head is wobbly and can slightly tilt to the sides, front, and back. Natanel has a cute little tushie and a belly button too.

Natanael will go home with the following clothes and accessories, all handmade by me:

  • Handmade cotton shirt.
  • Handmade cotton diaper with snaps.
  • Handmade cotton romper
  • Handmade wool felt booties
  • Hand knitted pixie bonnet with pompom
  • Handmade cotton tights
  • Cotton Footed sleeper (non Christmas themed)
  • Hand crocheted cotton bonnet
  • Handmade reindeer traveling friend

Even though this doll was made as a collectible piece, he is also made to be strong and sturdy and for play by children who do not mouth their toys. There are snaps and buttons on the clothes. These could all turn into choking hazards or be dangerous to children. If you want this doll for a child and would like me to change the snaps and buttons for velcro and felt. Let me know and I will be happy to do so.

Natanael’s adoption fee is 470 USDollars plus shipping. Shipping inside Mexico is free with Standard registered mail (It can be upgraded at the customer’s expense); to the US, Canada, and PR is 30 USDollars through Mexpost (Mexican Priority Shipping). Other countries will need a revised quote. If you would like your doll to be sent with a private courier with full insurance let me know so I can give you an accurate quote. Customs taxes and fees may apply and they are the costumers responsibility.

If you would like to adopt baby Natanael, make sure you comment on this post stating so. Make sure the email you enter is your PayPal one and don’t forget to write down the country the doll will be sent to. If there is more than one person interested in him, I will draw a name. Once a family has been chosen I will send a PayPal invoice that is due upon receipt. Natanael has found a loving home.
