It’s never too early for Christmas!
-Unknown

So here I am again with my super early Christmas dolls. haha! I know it hasn’t been Halloween yet, but I am always so terrified that my dolls will not get to their homes in time for the holidays, that I rather start this early. I asked my Patreon members what the first Christmas babies should be and they decided on Elves. So elves it is.
This is Zuzu, the first of three elves I already have planned. They will each have a different color and personality. Zuzu as you can see is my Asian elf. A sweet curious, and shy baby. I got inspired by the book “Memoirs of a Geisha” when I made her gray eyes. I think she looks so cute and special.

How we came to meet this sweet elf? Well, we were cleaning and sorting Christmas decorations when all of a sudden we saw a bag moving. I first thought it was a mouse, so I sprinted out of the room and my husband was the one to open the bag and see this sweet baby playing with the pine cones and bells. She only had a diaper on and we found her ears rather unusual. She seemed to love all the Christmas decorations, like really love them. That’s when I realized she was actually a baby Christmas elf. I am not sure why she is here so early. Maybe she was left behind by mistake? Maybe we need some Christmas spirit already in this house or in this world for that matter. Who knows, but I am so happy to meet her and find a loving home for her.
Zuzu is a rather shy girl. She might be shy but she’s also very smart and curious. She’s extremely observant and seems to remember everything and everyone. Zuzu’s favorite colors are red and green. Her favorite animals are reindeers and she loves Christmas cookies, you know the colorful ones that we decorate at home. She’s hoping to find a new family to spend Christmas with. I made her a proper Christmas elf outfit and a non Christmasy sleeper and hat, for when Christmas is over.

Zuzu is an 11 inch baby elf girl. Her skin is DWE in beige. Her gray eyes have been hand embroidered with DMC thread, and her hair is a hand crocheted black brushable mohair wig cap that has been hand sewn to her head. Her blushing was made with an orange/red beeswax crayon and is not permanent. She is a natural fibers doll, filled with clean wool. Zuzu’s body was made with a new pattern that I am still testing. I hope you like it. Her head has been made in the traditional Waldorf style but has also been needle felted to make it firmer. She can bend her arms at the shoulders and her legs at her hips. Her head is wobbly and can tilt to the sides, front, and back. Zuzu has a cute little tushie and a belly button too.

Zuzu will go home with the following clothes and accessories, all made by me:
- Handmade cotton shirt.
- Handmade cotton diaper with snaps.
- Handmade cotton romper
- Handmade wool felt booties
- Hand knitted pixie bonnet with pompom
- Handmade cotton tights
- Cotton Footed sleeper (non Christmas themed)
- Hand crocheted bonnet with bear ears
- Handmade reindeer traveling friend

Even though this doll was made as a collectible piece, she is also made to be strong and sturdy and for play by children who do not mouth their toys. There are snaps and buttons on the clothes. These could all turn into choking hazards or be dangerous to children. If you want this doll for a child and would like me to change the snaps and buttons for velcro and felt. Let me know and I will be happy to do so.
You can see more photos of Zuzu here.
