Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over, she began to fly.
After my last batch of babies I thought I would start working on a big art doll I have been working for a long time now. However, the head didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted and I was getting a little frustrated. I actually remade the head a couple of times, so before I would just destroy the whole doll, I decided I was going to work on something a little more simple.
I haven’t made any magical babies in a while and I have been wanting to make some moths for a very long time now. So this seemed to be the perfect time for it. I used the same pattern I used for the reindeer babies I made for my kids and just added antennae and some lovely moth wings made with a pattern by Willowyn on Etsy. I hope you like them as much as I do. Now let me introduce them to you.
First born is baby Echo, the blue moth. The oldest by just one day and slightly bigger than the others. Echo loves shining lights and bonfires, you have to be careful not to let this baby get too close to the flames. This blue baby also loves sleeping on soft wool and eating hazelnuts.
Echo’s skin is Laib Yala in a tanned peach color. This baby’s body and hat is made with repurpose cotton blend baby clothes. Echo’s blue wings are made with upholstery blue fabric, wool blend felt, denim, and cotton blue fabric. Wings have some embroidered details and lace.
The middle child is baby Willow, the brown and orange moth. This baby is a little chubbier than the others. Willow is an animal lover, this baby loves playing with all insects everywhere, especially one particular orange baby caterpillar. Willow loves fruit and the color orange.
Willow’s skin is Laib Yala in a light brown color. This baby’s body and hat is made with repurpose cotton baby clothes. Willow’s wings are made with wool blend fabric, wool blend felt, brown cotton fabric, and orange cotton fabric. Wings have some embroidered details and lace.
Whisper is the tiny one, the white moth. The youngest by just a couple of hours and slightly smaller than the rest. Whisper loves colorful lights, likes the ones on a Christmas tree. This sweet white winged baby loves hiding in dark corners to rest. Whisper loves eating green leaves and playing hide and seek.
Whisper’s skin is Laib Yala in a dark brown color. This baby’s body and hat is made with repurpose cotton baby clothes. Whisper’s blue wings are made with white cotton blend eyelet fabric, felt, and white cotton fabric. Wings have some lace and white pompoms details.
You may wonder if these babies are boys or girls. Well, I’m not sure, I really can’t figure it out, so I guess you can decide if you adopt them.
These moth babies are a little under 7 inches long and are all looking for new homes. They are NOT meant to be toys. They are art dolls for gentle play by an adult collector or an older child 7+. They are natural fibers dolls, filled with clean wool. Their heads have been made in the traditional Waldorf style with some needle felting to make them firmer. Arms and legs are floppy but the head is just a little wobbly. Their eyes have been hand embroidered with cotton DMC thread. Their bodies are filled mostly with glass beads so they are weighted. Limbs have been filled with wool. They each have a non detachable wild brushable mohair scarf and wings with different details sewn to them and hand sewn antennae. Their hats are non detachable either.
They will go home with a traveling friend caterpillar and inside a little cocoon.
If you would like to see more photos of the babies you can see them in their Album.
Each baby’s adoption fee is 88 USDollars plus shipping. Shipping to Mexico is free and 13 USDollars for the rest of the world. These babies ship from Mexico through Standard mail with tracking. They usually take 3 to 5 weeks to get to their destination so they will obviously not be in your home for the holidays. They will spend Christmas with us and will travel next Monday.
If you would like priority shipping please contact me to give you a quote.
If you would like to adopt any of these babies, make sure you comment on this post stating the name of the Moth baby doll: Echo for the blue moth, Willow for the brown and orange moth, or Whisper for the white moth. If you want more than one, make sure you write the names in the priority you would like them. If there is more than one person interested in any of the dolls, I will draw a name. I will take entries for these babies until tomorrow Thursday December 24 at 2pm CDT. Once a family has been chosen I will send a PayPal invoice that is due upon receipt.
